On Friday, March 28, 2025, I participated in the opening reception and panel for the exhibition We Were Who We Were Waiting For at the CAIR Gallery in Sacramento. What an honor to share space with such an inspirational panel of artists and community leaders. Thank you to Faith McKinnie for the beautiful and thoughtful curation and the folks at the Sierra Health Foundation for their support, inclusion, and exemplifying cross-sector collaborations!

About the exhibition:

Over the past five years, communities have persevered, organized and reimagined new possibilities in the face of a global public health crisis. We Were Who We Were Waiting For is a new art exhibition that reflects on the resilience and creativity that emerged throughout California during the COVID-19 pandemic, centering the artists, nonprofit organizations and public-private partnerships providing critical information, resources and care to communities in need.

Through multiple mediums, this exhibition honors the collective work of these cultural stewards, who turned uncertainty into action and isolation into connection. It is a testament to the power of art and community in times of crisis and a call to recognize that we have always been our own catalysts for change.
